Partially filled glass of water
You are in an empty room with one partially filled glass of water in the room. You cannot go out of the room. And you do not have any thing else with you.How will you tell for sure whether the partially filled glass of water is Half filled or not. i.e. you have to say whether it is half filled/less that half filled/more than half filled.

tilt the glass and if the water touches the bottom n top edges, its half
if it touches the bottom edge and yet not the top, its less than half
Else its more than half

How long it took to get this answer? What was the thinking process you went thro.. ?
"Half filled" is in terms of VOLUME and irrespective of shape.
If "Half filled" is in terms of HEIGHT, we need to look for another solution. :-)
