Not all manholes are round. I have seen square manholes.

Possible reasons for round manholes:
Given surface area, round takes min space, the corners are not wasted.
The cover can be easily rolled
It wont be possible to push it in ,in ne way, if its square then it can be rotated and pushed in.

Possible reasons for square manholes:
Easier to cut a sheet into square than round.
No iron will be wasted from the sheet if u cut into sqaure unlike for round.

Iron is not cut...!!!
Iron when heated at its boiling point will be in liquid form. It is poured into a suitable vesel to get the desired form.
